The HRR-project will provide secure servers with extra processing power and memory.
The HRR-project aims to improve data security by facilitating the use of secure servers for storage and analysis of research data. The project is collaborating with the IT-services SAFE at the University of Bergen and TSD (Services for sensitive data) at the University of Oslo.

The Dell PowerEdge M830 provided by the HRR project is a full-height blade server with four 18 core Intel Xeon CPUs and 2 TB of RAM. The server has been virtualized using VMware and the resources can be shared between any number of virtual machines. In addition, with this amount of resources hosted on one physical machine, SAFE now has the ability to host powerful virtual machines for short and medium term processing needs.
The Dell PowerEdge R730 provided by TSD is a 2U rack server with two 20 core Intel Xeon CPUs and 1,5 TB of RAM. The server comes with two 400 GB system disks plus twelve 300GB SSD data Disks and is one node in a hyper converted virtualization platform based on VMware technology.
These servers, which are provided by the HRR-project, are available free of charge for research projects with particular needs for processing power and memory. Researchers are welcome to contact Anina Falch or Monica Follesø Børmo for further details about this opportunity. Researchers who are granted extra server resources through HRR-servers are asked to provide a short, written report afterwards. Here they will explain their computing tasks and experience, as well as if any problems remain unresolved.
